From the East.

Either head for Nottingham (see below), or use the A14 to get to the M1, then:-

From the South

Head up the M1 to Junction 25, the A52 Nottingham to Derby Road.

From the Nottingham area

Head west from Nottingham on the A52.

Then

From junction 25 on the M1 head west on the A52 towards Derby.

As you approach Derby, the road bends fairly sharply left, and you are almost immediately urged to get onto the ring road. Do not follow the signs for the outer ring road - go straight into the city centre.

As you get to the city centre, you arrive at a five way roundabout with a flyover going in the opposite direction only.

At this roundabout, get in the middle lane, and go straight over (the second exit) signposted for the city centre.

As you come off the roundabout, stay in the middle lane, take the right fork, and follow the road under the flyover, moving left one lane when you come out - this will lead you off at the next exit onto the A6. (Start following the signs for the A6 to Matlock.)

You cross a set of traffic lights, and you come to a large one way island called Five Lamps.

Go left then right, past the garage, get in the right hand lane, and follow the signs for the A6 to Matlock.

Note:- if you get lost in Derby, follow any of the signs west, Matlock, Ashbourne, Uttoxeter, Burton (if you have to), or the A38 north. Following any of these signs you will eventually get to the A38. Go north towards the M1, and you eventually come to the A6 to Matlock.

Stay with the signs for the A6 and Matlock and as you leave Derby, you cross the A38 at a large roundabout - go straight over, staying on the A6 to Matlock and Duffield.

In a couple of miles you come to Duffield, and half a mile after the Duffield sign there is a set of traffic lights with a left turn, the B5023, signposted to Wirksworth, which you should take.

This takes you out of Duffield into the country, and just over a mile after you leave Duffield, you come to the Puss in Boots (set back from the road on the left), with a right turn opposite it signposted to Hazelwood. Take the right turn.

You go immediately over a small bridge, and then a larger one. On the left are three or four houses together, which you ignore. We are about 100 yards further on.

As you come round a gentle right hand bend, there on the left are the "Knowle Farm" and "Duck Pond View" signs in green, and the entrance is just past the signs. The house is set back from the road with a gravel drive - and there is an old street light by the gate.
